This photo was captured on June 1st, 2020 at 6:56pm, during one of the many Black Lives Matter protests in NYC. I love this photo as far as its symbolism. To me the dark cloud symbolizes the oppressive darkness that hangs over us as a society when all people are not treated equally, and the strip of sun breaking through those clouds over the skyline symbolizes the hope for true equality that awaits us in the future, as long as we never give up on making that a reality.
