A Rain Curtain - or a Precipitation Shaft (to use the official meteorological term), is a weather phenomenon, visible from the ground at large distances from the storm system, as a dark vertical shaft of heavy rain, hail, or snow, generally localized over a relatively small area. For some reason, I'm crazy about them. I think they are so beautiful! The Rain Curtain seen here is falling over New Jersey.

This photo shows the East and North meadows, the North Meadow Ball Fields, a bit of the Reservoir, the Upper West Side of Manhattan with the Eldorado towers, and the Central Park Tennis Center on the left and the top of Riverside Church all the way on the right. Captured July 6th, 2020 at 3:50 pm on a very hot and steamy summer day.
